St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 13, 2016 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's cross country team was one of 16 teams selected for an at-large bid to compete in the 2016 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, as announced Sunday by the NCAA. The WashU men will join the Bears' women's team, who earned an automatic bid to the national meet by winning the Midwest Regional.
The WashU men finished fourth at the Midwest Regional Saturday. WashU was one of two teams from the region to earn an at-large bid, joining the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
This marks the 12th time in school history the Bears will compete at the NCAA Championships, and eighth in a row. It is also the eighth time in school history that both the men's and women's teams from WashU will compete at the national meet.
The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19, at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. The women's 6K race will begin at 11 a.m (EST), followed by the men's 8K race at 12 p.m. (EST).
