Women Claim 1st and Men 4th at UW Oshkosh Open

Winneconne, Wis., Oct. 15, 2016 –  The Washington University in St. Louis cross country program ran to a first place finish on the women's side and a fourth place finish on the men's side during the Kollege Town Sports Cross Country Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. 

The Kollege Town Sports Cross Country Invitational featured 41 women's teams, eight of which from the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top-35 ranked teams and 42 men's teams with nine of the top-35 teams within the NCAA Division III.

Aly Wayne finished second overall with her top time of the season, 21:27 just four seconds behind Erin Herrmann of Hope College. Alison Lindsay was next to cross the line for the Bears at 21:53, seventh overall. Wayne and Lindsay were followed by Ellie Degen, Annie Marggraff and Kimberly Johnson

David O'Gara finished ninth overall and posted the top Bears time on the men's side 25:14. The men's final four scoring times were within the top 40 times, including Peter Johnsrud, Nick Matteucci, Dillon Williams and Brody Roush.

"We are in a great place to be with five weeks left," added head coach Jeff Stiles. Next up for the fifth ranked women's team and 15th ranked men's team is the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Oct. 29 in Whitesburg, Ga.
