St. Louis, Mo., July 15, 2014 – The Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team posted a school-record 20-1-1 overall record, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals for the third season in a row and seventh time in school history. The Bears also won their second consecutive and ninth University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship with a 7-0 record.
Senior Kate Doyle (first team) and junior Lillie Toaspern (third team) highlighted postseason awards by earning National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Women's Soccer Division III All-America Team honors. In addition, Doyle, sophomore Amy French, senior Jessica Johnson and Toaspern earned first-team NSCAA Central Region honors, while senior Becky Berels was a third-team selection.
Doyle was also named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Women's Soccer Third Team. Doyle, a repeat selection after earning second-team honors in 2012, is the first women's soccer student-athlete in school history to earn multiple Academic All-America honors.
Washington U. was ranked No. 1 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Top-25 Poll for the second time in school history on Oct. 29. The Bears outscored their opponents, 78-8, and tied a school record for goals allowed in a season.
