St. Louis, Mo., July 16, 2013 – Washington University in St. Louis junior first baseman Stacy Berg has been named to the 2013 Jewish Sports Review College Softball All-America First Team, as announced by the publication. Berg is the fifth player in school history to receive the honor.
A third-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region selection, Berg batted .318 with seven doubles, a team-high nine home runs and 41 RBIs. She ranked fourth in the University Athletic Association (UAA) in both home runs and RBIs. A second-team all-UAA honoree, Berg tied a UAA record with three home runs vs. Brandeis University (3/15) at the UAA Championship Tournament.
Berg graduated in May with a degree in accounting, and is pursuing a master's degree in accounting from Washington University. She has a .305 career batting average with 10 home runs and 46 RBIs in 66 games.
Washington University finished the 2013 season with a 31-14 overall record, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in the last 12 years. The Bears also placed second in the UAA with a 5-3 mark.
