WashU Men’s Basketball Announces Class of 2023

St. Louis, Mo., July 2, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis head men's basketball coach Pat Juckem has announced the signing of five freshmen for the 2019-20 academic year. 

The Class of 2023 including student-athletes from five different states: Nate Bloedorn (Nolensville, Tenn./Nolensville), Spencer Boehm (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier), Kevin Davet (Cleveland, Ohio/Saint Ignatius), Liam Dillon (Houston, Texas/Strake Jesuit College Preparatory), Matthew Gonzalo (Dunwoody, Ga./St Pius X Catholic).

"We are excited to welcome these five outstanding young men to our WashU basketball family," said Juckem. "Each young man exhibits the traits we value in our program. They are serious students, talented athletes and outstanding teammates. WashU fans will enjoy watching this group develop and impact our program in the years to come."

WashU posted a 17-8 overall record a year ago and finished in a tie for second place in the University Athletic Association (UAA) standings with a 10-4 mark. The Bears won the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division III National Championship, and have made 24 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Bears have also won a conference-record 15 UAA titles.

Spencer Boehm – C – 6-7 – 225 – Winnetka, Ill. (New Trier)
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner at New Trier High School … Two-year team captain … Career highs of 25 points 16 rebounds and 10 assists … Two-time all-conference … Team won conference title as a junior … Four-year honor roll … PERSONAL: Son of Rodger and Susan Boehm … Majoring in finance/operations … Has five older siblings which all played college sports: Peter (Basketball/Harvard), Jack (Baseball/Bucknell), Connor (Basketball/Dartmouth), Mike (Rowing/Bucknell), Jeannie (Basketball/Harvard).

Kevin Davet – C – 6-10 – 240 – Cleveland, Ohio (Saint Ignatius)

Liam Dillon – F – 6-7 – 225 – Houston, Texas (Strake Jesuit College Preparatory)
