St. Louis, Mo., April 23, 2014 – Five home games, including a season-opening matchup against Ohio Northern University, highlight the 2014 Washington University in St. Louis football schedule, as announced by head coach Larry Kindbom.
Washington U. hosts Ohio Northern University in the home opener at Francis Field Sept. 6. This marks the first meeting in school history between the two teams. The Bears also host North Park University (Sept. 20), Hendrix College (Oct. 11), and Maranatha Baptist University (Oct. 18) during non-conference action at Francis Field.
The Bears visit Rhodes College Sept. 13 for the first road game of 2014 season. The two teams are meeting for the 27th-straight season and 51st time in school history. Washington U. defeated the Lynx 10-7 in double overtime a year ago. Rhodes finished the 2013 season with an 8-2 record and tied for first in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).
Washington University's non-conference road schedule also features trips to Centre College (Sept. 27), and Berry College (Oct. 4). Washington U. will be joining Rhodes, Berry and Centre in the SAA next season.
The Bears open University Athletic Association (UAA) play Oct. 25 at the University of Chicago, followed by Senior Day at home against Case Western Reserve University on Nov. 1. Washington U. closes the season with a conference road game at Carnegie Mellon University Nov. 15.

Five of Washington U.'s opponents recorded a .500 or better season a year ago: Ohio Northern (6-4), Rhodes (8-2), Centre (7-3), Chicago (6-4) and Case Western Reserve (5-4).
Washington University finished the 2013 season with an 8-3 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the first time since 1999 and second in school history. The Bears also won their 10th UAA Championship with a 3-0 record.
