Stephen Harris enters his third season as the Washington University in St. Louis men's and women's crew coach. Harris arrived on the Danforth Campus after serving the past season as the women’s rowing coach at Northwestern University.

While at Northwestern, Harris guided the Women’s Club 4+ to a third-place finish at the Head of the Hooch and the Women’s Varsity 4+ to a third-place finish at MACRA. The Women’s Varsity 4+ also went on to place fourth at Dad Vails and was the only club crew in the Grand Finals.

Prior to his arrival at Northwestern, Harris was the Head Freshman Men's Crew coach at Marietta College from 2009-12. During that time he was responsible for more than 50 student-athletes joining the Pioneer Navy, coached the Second Varsity 8+ to medal finishes at SIRA (third) and Dad Vails (second) in Spring 2010 and coached the Freshman/Novice 8+ to medal finishes at SIRA (second) and Dad Vails (first) in Spring 2012.

Harris spent the spring of 2009 as the Assistant Boys’ Varsity coach for Orlando Area Rowing Society, where he coached the Second Varsity 8+ and Third Varsity 8+. In addition, he was the Head Boys’ Varsity coach for Boone High School Crew in 2007 and 2008.

A four-year member of the men’s crew club at the University of Central Florida, Harris served as the team captain and club president during the 2005-06 season and the club treasurer during the 2004-05 season. In addition to leading the men’s crew in 2005-06, he was also the Sports Club Council President at Central Florida.

Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in coaching from Central Florida in 2009. USRowing certifies him as a Level III coach.
