WashU has Three Named UAA Athlete of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., April 15, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis had three student-athletes named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports, as announced by the Association Monday.

Senior Chloe DiPetrillo of the No. 8-ranked women's golf team and junior outfielder Mikaela Arredondo and freshman pitcher Holly Stoner of the softball team each earned the honor.

DiPetrillo led the Bears over the weekend in a rain shortened tournament at Illinois Wesleyan University. She finished the single round Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling with a six-over par 78 and tied for 18th overall. DiPetrillo totaled two birdies and nine pars in 18 holes.

Arredondo hit .500 (7-for-14) with six RBI as WashU won a four-game series at Carnegie Mellon University last weekend in Pittsburgh. She hit safely in all four games, including a 3-for-4 performance with three RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in a 7-1 victory in game four. Arredondo had 10 total bases in the four-game series, including a double and a triple.

Stoner posted a 2-0 record and did not allow an earned run in 11 2/3 innings pitched in a pair of outings at Carnegie Mellon. She picked up the win in relief tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings allowing two hits in a 7-3 win in game two Friday. In the final game of the series Saturday, Stoner tossed the first complete game of her career allowing five hits and one unearned run. She had a career-high eight strikeouts and did not walk a batter.
