WashU Has Three Selected UAA Athletes of the Week

St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 14, 2019 – Three student-athletes from Washington University in St. Louis were announced as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Elizabeth Davidson of the No. 8-ranked women's swimming & diving team, freshman Eka Jose of the No. 2-ranked women's indoor track & field team, and junior Nick Matteucci of the men's indoor track & field team were the recipients.

Davidson helped the Bears to victory over Lindenwood-Belleville Friday evening during the WashU Invitational. She posted scores of 202 in the one-meter dive and 212.20 in the three-meter dive. The Bears women posted a 127-55 point victory over the Lynx.

Jose placed first in multiple events to help guide the Bears to a first-place finish at Rose-Hulman's Friday Night Spikes Opener. She placed first in the triple jump (11.61m) and first in the 60m dash (8.15). Jose already has the top triple jump in Division III this season and her mark would rank third, while her 60m time is 44th in DIII and is tied for the ninth-fastest performer in WashU program history. The Bears placed first in a group of four teams competing at Rose-Hulman's Friday Night Spikes Opener.

Matteucci ran to a first-place finish in the 3,000m run at the Friday Night Spikes Opener hosted by Rose-Hulman, posting Division III's third-fastest time in the process, 8:28.04. His time ranks third all-time in program history. The Bears placed first in a group of four teams competing at Rose-Hulman's Friday Night Spikes Opener.
