Washington University Special Olympics Tennis Clinic A Success
St. Louis, Mo., May 7, 2013 – The Washington University men’s and women’s tennis teams hosted their annual Special Olympics Tennis Clinic Saturday, May 4, at the Washington University Athletic Complex. The event was moved inside due to rain.
Instructors for the clinic included Washington University men’s coach Roger Follmer and women’s coach Kelly Stahlhuth, along with student-athletes from both the men’s and women’s tennis teams. Each participant received a free T-shirt and lunch, compliments of Chipotle. The commemorative T-shirts were made possible by a grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
In addition to a full day of activities, the clinic focused on improving stroke technique, basic tennis skills, and building appreciation for tennis. The event drew 24 Special Olympic athletes from across the state of Missouri.
