Adam Putterman Named to 2013 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team
St. Louis, Mo., August 19, 2013 — 2013 NCAA Division III singles champion Adam Putterman has been named to the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Collegiate All-Star Team. Putterman joins 2010 NCAA Division III National Champion John Watts as the second player in school history to be named to the ITA All-Star Team.
Featuring 20 of the nation's top student-athletes from tennis programs across the nation, the ITA All-Star Team was inaugurated in 1984. The All-Star Team features the nation's top-ranked men's and women's players from the year-end ITA College Tennis Rankings at the NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO levels, as well as winners of the 2012 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships and 2013 NCAA Division I Championships.
Putterman earned 2013 ITA National Senior Player of the Year and the ITA Central Region Senior of the Year accolades after capturing the 2013 NCAA Division III Singles National Championship. He is second national champion in Washington University men's tennis history.
Putterman posted a 53-18 overall record as a senior, including a 31-7 mark while playing No. 1 singles for the Bears. The 2013 University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player, Putterman concluded his four-year career with a 164-70 overall record. The 164 wins are the sixth most in school history.
Putterman earned ITA All-America honors in both singles and doubles his final two seasons on the Danforth Campus, and was a two-time Capital One Academic All-America honoree.
The 2013 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team awards presentation will take place at the ITA Awards Luncheon on Saturday, August 24, hosted by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) during Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, immediately before the start of the US Open. The luncheon is held in the President's Suite Dining Room at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
