Chris Klimek Named Second-Team All-Region by NABC and D3hoops.com
St. Louis, Mo., March 13, 2013 – Washington University in St. Louis junior forward Chris Klimek was named to the 2013 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3Hoops.com All-Midwest Region Second Team.
Klimek, a first-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, averaged 15.4 points and 5.7 rebounds a game in 27 starts at power forward for Washington U. He scored in doubles figures in 22 of 27 games played, including five games over 20 points. Klimek scored a career-high 31 points on 14-of-17 shooting in a 94-63 win vs. Austin College Nov. 23.
He finished the season ranked third in the UAA in field-goal percentage (.578), fourth in blocked shots (1.0), fifth in scoring (15.4) and eighth in rebounding (5.7). A D3hoops.com third-team all-Midwest Region selection a year ago, Klimek has started 47 of 48 games played in his two-year career scoring 680 points with 268 rebounds. He ranks seventh on the all-time Washington University in field goal percentage (.558) and is on pace to become the 21st player in school history with 1,000 or more points.
Washington University finished the 2012-13 season with a 21-6 overall mark, won the UAA Championship and made an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year.
