The McWilliams Challenge for Athletics
To help increase support for Washington University Athletics, Art McWilliams, BSBA '49, and his wife, Marge, have established a $100,000 challenge fund to encourage donors to join the W Club.
The McWilliams Challenge will match all new and increased W Club memberships and multi-year commitments designated for Athletics dollar for dollar.

Your generous commitment will support our student-athletes and coaches and help keep our programs strong. To date, support for our Athletics program has helped our students be successful, achieving:
- 19 NCAA championships
- 169 UAA titles
- 122 Academic All-Americans
Our coaches have been honored for their achievements as well. Most recently, Nancy Fahey was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, becoming the first Division III coach to be honored.
About Art & Marge McWilliams
Art and Marge McWilliams are both natives of St. Louis and both have BSBA degrees - his from the Olin School of Business, hers from Saint Louis University. They also share an abiding commitment to Washington University and its students.
The McWilliams' are enthusiastic fans of the Bears athletic teams and attend many sporting events on and off campus. As generous supporters of athletics and fitness, they have provided resources for the McWilliams Fitness Center at the Athletic Complex and are also proud to sponsor the annual Washington University McWilliams Women's Basketball Classic. In addition, they have made a leadership gift toward the Sumers Recreation Center that furthers their support of women's athletics.
Art and Marge are also scholarship sponsors at the School of Business. Many of the McWilliams' scholarship students are also scholar-athletes.
Both Art and Marge have served the St. Louis community in many volunteer capacities with great distinction. Currently, Art serves on the Washington University W Club Executive Committee.
