Washington University athletics director John Schael announced the hiring of Nicole Kaupp as assistant men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach. Kaupp spent the last three seasons at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and the last year as the interim head coach.

This past season, Kaupp earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women’s Coach of the Year honors. She also mentored Jessie Carrier to an NCAA appearance in the 50-yard freestyle. Carrier was the first swimmer or diver in school history to be invited to the NCAA national meet.

In previous summers, Kaupp worked at the University of Michigan and the University of Texas Swim Camps, as well as assisting with Club Wolverine's Elite Training Group. In addition, she worked at Speedo as the Sports Promotions Coordinator, where she was responsible for working with contracted teams and coaches in preparation for junior nationals, long course nationals and the Japan Grand Prix meet.

Kaupp graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore., in 2006 with a bachelor’s of arts degree in history and is currently pursuing a Master's in Sports Leadership at Northeastern University.

In addition to her collegiate swimming experience, she served as a recruiting assistant for her alma mater for two years. Kaupp also served as Co-Chair of the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was a part of the Lewis & Clark Balancing Act First-Year Student-Athlete Mentoring Program.
