Bears High School Tennis Boot Camp

Bears High School Tennis Boot Camp One-week day half-day camp for boys and girls who play Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshmen Team High School Tennis or who aspire to try out for a team in the 2014-15 academic year.

Overview

This camp is focused on collegiate-type practices where drills have a focused topic that will enhance the high school player's arsenal of knowledge and weapons. We will cover topics such as offensive/defensive shot selections, singles strategy, doubles strategy (i.e., poaching, offensive/defensive lobs, net play/transition, serving placement, I-formation/Australian formation. Registration and Payment
NOTE: REGISTRATION IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR 2014 SUMMER SESSIONS.

Refund Policy
Refunds are available with written notice through the start of the camp session. Three weeks prior to the registered camp session, full refunds can be issued. Less than three weeks prior to the registered camp session, a $150 fee/session is applied. Once camp has started, there are no refunds.

Location and Facilities

Junior Tennis camp is located in the WUSTL Athletic Complex at the west end of the Danforth campus of Washington University in St. Louis, off of Big Bend Boulevard and Forsyth Boulevard. Renovated in 2006, the Tao Tennis Center is considered one of the top college tennis facilities in NCAA Division III. Rain plans TBD.

Parking
For parents who want to watch practice, parking passes can be purchased from Coach Kelly.

Staff

The camp counselors are current or former student-athletes who have competed at Division I, II, III or NAIA institutions, and local high school tennis teams or tennis training academies. Each counselor and instructor has undergone a background and fingerprint check and training to ensure the safety and quality of instruction and care. Certified Athletic trainers will be available during camp hours.

Basic Day Schedule

Instructors and counselors will be present daily from 9 am to 4 pm. On Friday, June 6, the campers will be dismissed following the Graduation Ceremony at 3:20 pm. We invite you to join us for any of the camp activities.

1-1:30 p.m. Active Dynamic Warm-Up
1:30-2 p.m. Focused Drills on Singles
2-2:30 p.m. Focused Drills on Doubles
2:30-3 p.m. Simulated Point/Game Situations

Friday Schedule

10-10:30 a.m. Active Dynamic Warm-Up
10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Active Dynamic Warm-Up, Plan for morning drills
12-1 p.m. Lunch at DUC (Please bring change to eat there or bring a sack lunch)
1:15-3 p.m. Match Play (Singles, Doubles, Mixed)
