Lawler, Stiles Collect USTFCCAA Midwest Region Honors

St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 19, 2019– Washington University in St. Louis senior Paige Lawler and head coach Jeff Stiles collected Midwest Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday, the association announced. 

Lawler, a native of Lexington, Mass., was named the Midwest Region Female Athlete of the Year after winning the Midwest Regional on Nov. 16 with a time of 21:53.0. She also collected first-place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Nov. 2 with a time of 21:49.76. Lawler was named USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Women's Athlete of the Week on Oct. 7 after her first-place finish (22:41.2) at the Dan Huston Invite on Oct. 5.

Stiles was named the Midwest Region Women's Coach of the Year for the ninth time in the last 15 seasons, including five in the last six years. He guided the women's program to a team title, tallying only 37 points, at the Midwest Regional on Nov. 16 and all seven student-athletes collected All-Region honors at the event.

WashU will compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The No. 10-ranked Bears men's squad will compete on the 8K course at 10:45 a.m. ET. The No. 1-ranked WashU women's team will race on the 6K course at 11:45 a.m. ET.
