Lawler Collects National Athlete of the Week Honors

New Orleans, La., October 7, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis cross country senior runner Paige Lawler was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Women's Athlete of the Week, the association announced on Monday.

Lawler, in her first race of the season, collected a first-place victory with a time of 22:41.2, four seconds ahead of the next finisher in the 6K race at the Dan Huston Invite in Waverly, Iowa, on Saturday.

This is Lawler's first career USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honor and the first for the WashU women's cross country program since 2014. The last WashU women's runner to earn the honor was Lucy Cheadle, who collected the honor three times five years ago
