St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 12, 2017 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's cross country team was one of 16 teams selected for an at-large bid to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, as announced Sunday by the NCAA.
The WashU men will join the women's cross country team who earned an automatic bid with the runner-up finish at the Midwest Regional Championship.
The Bears' men finished third at the Midwest Regional on Saturday and was one of five teams to advance. Also earning at-large bids from the Midwest were University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin-Stout.
This marks the 13th time in school history the Bears will compete at the NCAA Championships, and ninth in a row. It is also the ninth time in school history that both the men's and women's teams will compete at the national meet.
The NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18, in Elsah, Ill. as Principia College will play host. The men's 8K will kick start the events at 11 a.m. with the women's 6K set to begin at 12:15 p.m.
