Forsyth, Ill., Sept. 29, 2017 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's and women's cross country teams posted perfect scores at the Millikin H.W. Wright Classic on Friday evening.
The WashU men defeated eight other programs finishing with a perfect 15-points from the top-five times. The Bears men actually recorded the 10 fastest times during the 8K course at Hickory Point Golf Course.
The WashU women also posted a perfect score of 15-points with just a single unattached runner displacing the Bears from the top-13 times overall. The Bears defeated seven teams on the 6K course.
Senior David O'Gara and junior Peter Johnsrud once again placed with the two fastest times for the second consecutive meeting. O'Gara led the field with a time of 24:29.44, while Johnsrud placed second in 24:55.74. Closing out the Bears scoring times were graduates Ben Rosenkranz (25:02.98), Brody Roush (25:07.10) and sophomore Marco Quaroni (25:08.68).
The women were led by Paige Lawler's time of 22:03.23. Freshman Lara Rix (22:29.53), seniors Audrey Western (22:34.83), Mattie Gottbrath (22:52.04) and Anna Maurer (22:52.49) posted the four other scoring times for WashU.
The women recorded their second perfect score of the season after bettering Greenville in the season-opening dual at Forest Park.
