Men’s, Women’s Cross Country Sweep Titles at Wheaton

Wheaton, Ill., Sept. 17, 2016 - Junior Aly Wayne led seven top-seven finishers for the Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team, while senior Ryan Becker led seven top-12 finishers for the men's team as both teams won the team title at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College (Ill.) Saturday morning.

Wayne raced to the first individual title of her career with a 6K time of 22:00 to win by 27 seconds over sophomore teammate Ellie Degen. The Bears recorded all top-seven finishers in the race as the WashU women won the team title over 13 other teams. The Bears scored 15 points to cruise past Wheaton, who finished second with 64 points. 

Becker raced to the individual title for the second year in a row with an 8K time of 25:22, five seconds ahead of junior David O'Gara. The WashU men had five runners place in the top-eight as they scored 20 points to win the team title by 19 points over runner-up North Central College.
