Women's Cross Country Wins SIUE John Flamer Invite, Men Second

Edwardsville, Ill., Oct. 3, 2015 – The Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team placed five runners in the top-11to edge NCAA Division I DePaul University for the team title at the John Flamer Invite hosted by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Saturday morning. The WashU men had four runners in the top-11 to finish second in the team standings.

Senior Ellen Toennies, freshman Ellie Degen and sophomore Alison Lindsay placed second through fourth, respectively, to lead WashU to the team title. The Bears finished with 30 team points, edging DePaul by two points in the field of seven teams.

In the men's race, junior Ryan Becker won his second individual title in as many meets to lead the Bears to a runner-up team finish. Host SIUE won the men's team title with 30 points, while WashU was second with 35. Overall, the WashU men had 20 individuals run career-best 8K times, while the WashU women had 11 runners clock career-best 6Ks.
