Cross Country Teams Sweep Titles at Wheaton Gil Dodds Invitational

Wheaton, Ill., Sept. 21, 2013 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's and women's cross country teams both raced to team titles at the Wheaton Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College (Ill.) Saturday.

The Washington U. women placed seven runners in the top-15, including junior Lucy Cheadle, who won the individual title with a time of 22:03 on the 6K course. The Bears scored 27 points to easily win the team title over runner-up Illinois Wesleyan University (80) and host Wheaton (85).

Junior Drew Padgett and seniors Michael Ellenberger and Kevin Sparks swept the top-three spots in the men's race to lead six Washington U. runners in the top-20. The 1-2-3 sweep was crucial in the team race for the Bears as Washington U. edged North Central College 31-33 for the men's team title.
