Ufondu Garners AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 15, 2017 – Junior outside hitter Ifeoma Ufondu was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Honorable Mention list, as announced by the organization on Tuesday after earning AVCA All-Central Region accolades.

Ufondu becomes the 47th individual in WashU program history to earn the honor and her selection marks the 99th All-America honor all-time in Bears history. She joins junior middle hitter Julianne Malek, who was named to the AVCA All-America Third Team.

The Lancaster, Calif.-native finished with a team high 377 kills and was the only Bear to exceed both 100 kills and 100 digs on the year. She tallied 163 digs, 83 blocks, 15 service aces while averaging 3.07 kills per set which ranked sixth best in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

Ufondu, a second team all-UAA selection, set a personal-best with 20 kills against Saint Mary's on Sept. 8, before matching the total with 20 against at the time No. 20-ranked Chicago in a 3-0 win on Nov. 3 as she averaged 6.67 kills per set.
