St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 21, 2014 – The Washington University in St. Louis volleyball team will host its annual "Dig for Pink" night during its 7 p.m. match against Transylvania University Friday, Oct. 31. Prior to Dig for Pink night, the Bears will hold a benefit night at Noodles & Company on the Delmar Loop Thursday, Oct. 23.
The benefit at Noodles & Company will run from 5-9 p.m. Thursday. Noodles & Company is located at 6310 Delmar Blvd. in University City, Mo. Anyone wishing to participate in the benefit should mention Dig for Pink or show the Dig for Pink flyer at the register, and Noodles & Company will donate 20 percent of the sales to Dig for Pink.
The Bears will also be raising money during the Dig for Pink match against Transylvania. There will be several raffle items, including four Southern Tide baskets. All proceeds from the benefit night at Noodles & Company, as well as the Dig for Pink night will be donated to Washington University's Siteman Cancer Center to help fund its program that provides free mammograms for underprivileged women. Everyone attending the match is encouraged to wear pink.
The team will also take time during the match against Transylvania to honor all breast cancer survivors and those currently battling breast cancer in attendance. The Washington U. volleyball team is currently 27-4 overall and ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division III. The Bears are also scheduled to face Westminster College (Mo.) at 3 p.m. Oct. 31. Prior to the 7 p.m. match against Transylvania, Washington U. will recognize Juriga and Lauren Yung as part of Senior Night at the WU Field House. Admission to all volleyball matches is free.
