Women’s Tennis Concludes Play at ITA Regional

Kalamazoo, Mich., Sept. 20, 2019 – The Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team concluded play Friday at the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Championships held at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich.

In doubles, both of WashU's team that advanced to the round of 16 were defeated on the second day. Freshman Leslie Ligier and junior Ally Persky dropped an 8-4 decision, while sophomore Divya Sharma and senior Sanjna Tripathy suffered an 8-5 loss to No. 2 seed Amanda Bandrowski and Claire Hallock from Hope College.

In singles, WashU had five student-athletes fall in the round of 16 on Friday: sophomore Hannah Johnston, Ligier, senior Zoe Park, Persky and Sharma. Persky, the No. 9 seed, suffered a hard-fought three-set loss to No. 5 seed Nicole Semenov of the University of Chicago 7-6 (7-5, 4-6, 6-2).

WashU opens the 2020 spring season on Saturday, Feb. 15, against the University of Indianapolis at Kings Point Sports Club in Belleville, Ill.
