Hederick and Sharma Remain in Back Draw at ITA Regional

Kalamazoo, Mich., Sept. 22, 2018 – Sophomore Grace Hederick and freshman Divya Sharma of the Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team each won three matches to remain alive in the back draw at the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Championships held at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Hederick and Sharma, who both suffered close losses to seeded players in the opening round, won three straight-set matches on Saturday. The duo takes the court Sunday at 9 a.m. (ET) in the quarterfinals.

In the singles main draw, senior Lisa Chionis and sophomores Ashley Lessen and Laurel Wanger bowed out in the round of 32 with defeats.

In doubles, No. 4 seed Lessen and sophomore Ally Persky picked up a win in the round of 32 before falling in the round of 16. The No. 9 seed of Chionis and freshman Stephanie Ren also picked up a win Saturday before dropping a third-round match.
