St. Louis, Mo., May 9, 2018– Senior Grace Deering was selected to represent the No. 13-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team at the 2018 NCAA Division III Singles Championship, which is scheduled for May 24-26 at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.
Deering was one of 32 individuals selected to compete in the singles championship, while she and freshman Ally Persky were selected as the first alternate for doubles.
Deering enters the postseason as the fifth-ranked singles player in the Central Region and No. 18 in NCAA Division III. She has recorded a 13-9 singles record this season, including a 10-8 mark at No. 1 singles.
Deering and Persky have a 19-10 mark while playing No. 1 doubles, and are ranked No. 4 in the Central Region and No. 6 in NCAA Division III. The duo won the USTA/ITA Central Region Doubles Championship in the Fall.
Deering ranks sixth in school history with 134 career wins.
WashU (13-7) received at at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will take on No. 12 Sewanee Saturday in the second round at 2 p.m. (CT) in Sewanee, Tenn.
