Deering and Persky Fall in First Round at ITA Oracle Cup

Rome, Ga., Oct. 12, 2017 – Washington University in St. Louis senior Grace Deering and freshman Ally Persky suffered a straight-set defeat Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the 2017 Oracle Cup held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.

No. 2 seed Emily Chen and Maryann Zhao of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges posted a 6-2, 6-1 over Deering and Persky, the Central Region doubles champions.

The duo takes on unseeded Bridgid McGuire and Jillian Wallace of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the back draw semifinals on Friday at 1:30 p.m.(ET)

The ITA Oracle Cup is comprised of eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) for both singles and doubles from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges. The singles and doubles champions at each divisional level then compete to become the overall "Super Bowl" champions.
