Chattanooga, Tenn., May 26, 2017 — Washington University in St. Louis senior Rebecca Ho posted a pair of straight-set victories on Friday to advance to the championship match of the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship held at The Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Ho becomes the first WashU women's tennis player in school history to play for a singles national championship, and joins the doubles team of Rathi Mani and Kat Copiozo (2002) as the program's other national finalist.
The No. 2 seed in the 32-person bracket, Ho posted a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Michelle Satterfield of Emory University in the quarterfinals. She then followed that with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Victoria Yu of Wesleyan University (Conn.) in the semifinals.
Ho improves to 33-3 in singles this season and takes on two-time defending national champion and No. 1 seed Eudice Chong of Wesleyan University (Conn.) Saturday at 10 a.m. (ET). She also increased her WashU career win total to 191.
