Women’s Tennis Takes on No. 1 Claremont in NCAA Quarters

Chattanooga, Tenn., May 21, 2017 — The No. 11-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team takes on No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the 2017 NCAA Division III Quarterfinals on Monday, May 22, at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. The match is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. (ET).

The Bears are making their second-straight and fifth NCAA Quarterfinal appearance.

WashU (14-10) defeated No. 21 Hope College 5-3 on May 13 in the regional championship match in Whitewater, Wis. The Bears are seeking their first NCAA Semifinal appearance, and are 15-17 (.469) in 18 career NCAA appearances.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (28-0) bested cross-campus and conference rival No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges 5-3 for the seventh-straight season in the Regional Championship on May 14 at home.

CMS defeated WashU 7-2 on Feb. 25 in San Antonio in the lone meeting this season.

Four quarterfinal matches will take place on Monday, followed by the national semifinals on Tuesday and the title match on Wednesday. Following the team championship Ho will compete in the singles championship, while she and Griffith will complete in the doubles championship. The individual championships are slated for Thursday-Saturday, May 25-27.
