No. 10 WashU Falls to No. 11 Carnegie in UAA 3rd-Place Match

Altamonte Springs, Fla., April 22, 2017 – The third-seeded and No. 10-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to No. 4 seed and No. 11-ranked Carnegie Mellon University in the 2017 University Athletic Association (UAA) Third-Place match Saturday in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Carnegie Mellon improved to 17-7, 2-1 in the UAA, while WashU fell to 12-10, 1-2 in the UAA.

Junior Grace Deering became the 25th member of the 100-victory club with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 win at No. 2 singles over No. 28-ranked Cori Sidell. Deering has a 100-53 record in three seasons on the Danforth Campus – 48-24 in singles and 52-29 in doubles.
