Surprise, Ariz., Oct. 14, 2016 – Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis seniors Rebecca Ho and Kaylan Griffith took home third-place honors at the 2016 ITA Oracle Cup with a three-set victory Friday at Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club in Surprise, Ariz.
Ho and Griffith, the No. 3 seed, defeated Humphreys/Kitchell of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-8) in the third-place match. The duo finished the fall with an 8-1 mark.
Ho, the No. 3 seed in singles, suffered a three-set defeat to No. 2 seed Bridget Harding of Emory University 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the semifinals. Ho takes on No. 1 seed Caroline Casper of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the third-place match.
The victory in doubles for Ho upped her career win total to 150, just the third player in school history to achieve that mark.
The ITA Oracle Cup is comprised of eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) for both singles and doubles from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges. The singles and doubles champions at each divisional level then compete to become the overall "Super Bowl" champions.
