Kalamazoo, Mich., May 22, 2016 — The No. 10 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team will make its fourth NCAA Quarterfinal appearance Monday when the Bears take on No. 1 Emory University at 2 p.m. at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.
WashU (18-5) defeated No. 12 Sewanee: University of the South 5-2 on May 14 in the regional championship match in St. Louis. The Bears are seeking their first NCAA Semifinal appearance.
Emory (25-5) enters NCAA Quarterfinal play winners of seven of its last eight matches. The Eagles defeated No. 15 Washington and Lee University 5-0 on May 15 to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 10th-straight season.
The two teams last met on April 24 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship match in Altamonte Springs, Fla., a 7-2 win by the Eagles. Emory also defeated WashU 6-3 on Feb. 13 in Sewanee, Tenn.
Four quarterfinal matches will take place on Monday, followed by the national semifinals on Tuesday and the title match on Wednesday. Following the team championship, junior Rebecca Ho will compete in the singles championship on Thursday-Saturday, May 26-28.
