Stephanie Ackerman, who returned to her alma mater in 2007, begins her eighth season as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Washington University in St. Louis.

A three-time team captain, Ackerman played four years under former head coach Wendy Dillinger from 2002-05, and helped lead the Bears to a four-year record of 52-18-8. Washington U. also won the University Athletic Association (UAA) championship and went on to the NCAA Tournament in 2003 and 2004.

A second-team all-UAA selection as a defender in 2003, Ackerman scored three goals and had one assist while leading a defense that posted 11 shutouts and allowed just 14 goals. She followed that up with 21 starts in 2004 and just 11 goals allowed.

Ackerman received her bachelor’s degree in ancient studies from Washington University in 2005, and graduated from Barnes Jewish College of Nursing with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2007.

Ackerman coached the junior varsity women’s soccer team at John Burroughs High School in 2008.
