WashU Women’s Soccer Earns DIII National Staff of Year

St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 14, 2018 – Head coach Jim Conlon and assistant coaches Rebekah RollerTheresa Kaiser and Emily Bozdeck of the Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team were named the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III National Staff of the Year, as announced by the organization.

"I, along with my staff, am humbled to receive such an honor. NCAA DIII women's soccer has so many great coaches and mentors across the country," said Conlon. "I am grateful to all the great coaches that make personal development a higher priority than winning."

Conlon and his staff also earned Central Region Staff of the Year for the third time (2013, 2016, 2018).

WashU posted a school-record 21-1 overall mark and advanced to the Division III Final Four for the third time in the last four years and fifth in school history. 

The Bears also won their fourth-straight University Athletic Association (UAA) title. Conlon and his staff earned UAA Coaching Staff of the Year after becoming the fourth team in conference history to go a perfect 7-0 in league play. 

WashU set or tied six WashU single-season records in 2018: wins, unbeaten streak (21), winning streak (21) fewest goals allowed (6), shutouts (16) and winning percentage (.955).

The Bears had a school-record four student-athletes earn United Soccer Coaches Association All-America honors in senior midfielder Maggie Crist (first), senior midfielder Darcy Cunningham (first), senior back Hannah Menard (first) and junior forward Taylor Cohen (second).

In addition, sophomore back Katy Mockett was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team, while Cunningham (first) and Cohen (second) earned United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America honors.

"Thank you to my staff and partners, Rebekah, Theresa, Emily, Alicia, Terry, Chris and Jim, for investing so much of their time and energy into helping the WashU women's soccer players develop," Conlon added. "Thank you to Washington University for the continued support towards scholar-champion greatness.  

Conlon and his staff will be honored at the United Soccer Coaches Awards Banquet on Jan. 11, 2019 at McCormick Place West in Chicago in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
