St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 27, 2018 – Head coach Jim Conlon and assistant coaches Rebekah Roller, Theresa Kaiser and Emily Bozdeck of the Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team were named the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Central Region Staff of the Year, as announced Tuesday by the organization.
This marks the third time Conlon and his staff have earned the honor (2013, 2016, 2018).
No. 1-ranked WashU has a 21-0 overall record and gained the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning its fourth-straight University Athletic Association (UAA) title. Conlon and his staff also earned UAA Coaching Staff of the Year after becoming the fourth team in conference history to go a perfect 7-0 in league play.
The Bears had five student-athletes earn Central-Region First Team honors: junior forward Taylor Cohen, senior midfielder Maggie Crist, senior midfielder Darcy Cunningham, sophomore goalkeeper Emma Greenfield and senior back Hannah Menard.
WashU advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four for the fifth time in school history. The Bears take on No. 3 Middlebury College in the National Semifinals at 5 p.m. (ET) on Friday in Greensboro, N.C.
Each of the coaching staffs receiving Regional Staff of the Year honors will be recognized at the United Soccer Coaches College Coaches Awards Reception on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 at the Convention in Chicago.
In addition, the Regional Staff of the Year recipients will be placed on the United Soccer Coaches ballot for National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division. The ballot will also include the addition of coaching staffs from any schools which advance to the semifinals of their NCAA Championship.
United Soccer Coaches will announce the Women's National Staff of the Year for on Friday, Dec. 14.
