Kelly Von Zup Garners Scholar Region Honors

St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 8, 2017 – Washington University in St. Louis senior back Kelly Von Zup was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Scholar All-North/Central Region Second Team, as announced by the Association Friday.

Von Zup was a United Soccer Coaches Second-Team All-Central Region and Second-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection in 2017. She started 19 games at center back and recorded one assist.

Von Zup was part of the WashU defense that recorded 14 shutouts and allowed just eight goals. WashU's goals against average (0.396) and shutout percentage (0.700) ranked 12th in NCAA Division III. Von Zup earned UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 11.

She started 42 of 63 career games played on the back line, and had one goal and one assist for three points.

A three-time Academic all-UAA honoree, Von Zup has a 3.86 grade point average while majoring in psychology and finance.

WashU finished the 2017 season with a 17-2-1 record, and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the sixth time in the last seven seasons and for the 13th time in school history. The Bears were also the 2017 UAA champion.
