No. 9 Women’s Golf Wins NCAA DIII Preview

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Sept. 15, 2019 – Senior Samantha Haubenstock claimed medalist honors to help lead the No. 9-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team to the NCAA Division III Preview title held Saturday-Sunday at PGA National-Palmer Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

WashU claimed top honors for the second-consecutive tournament after firing a three-round total of 926 (318-300-308). No. 10 Carnegie Mellon (937), No. 17 Oglethorpe (957), No. 15 Washington & Lee (965) and No. 3 Methodist (970) rounded out the top five in the 13-team field.

The victory for Mary Swanson was the seven in two seasons at head coach.

Haubenstock fired an even-par 72 on the final day, which included birdies No. 13 and No. 14, en route to three-round total of 221 (77-72-72). The 54-hole score was tied for the second best in school history.

She claimed a four-shot victory over freshman Annie Mascot, who shot a total of 225 (76-73-79) to finish second. Haubenstock moved into a tie with Hannah Buck (2010-13) for second all-time with nine victories.

Freshmen Emmy Sammons (82-74-84, 240, 1th place), Alena Lindh (86-79-78, 243, 21st place) and Emma Lee (83-85-86, 255, 42nd place) round out WashU's starting five.

Freshman Helen Ye competed as an individual and recorded a ninth-place finish with a total of 236 (76-78-82).

WashU competes in the Lindenwood-WashU Dual on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Whitmoor Country Club in Weldon Spring, Mo.
