No. 8 WashU Ninth at Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling

Normal, Ill., April 13, 2019 – The No. 8 Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team placed ninth at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling Saturday as the originally scheduled two day event was shortened to one day due to the weather on Sunday.

The Bears shot a 320. No. 6-ranked Grinnell won the tournament with a 21-over par 309. Rounding out the top five finishes were No. 18 Illinois Wesleyan (313), St. Catherine (313), No. 24 Wisonsin-Oshkosh (314) and No. 2 DePauw (316).

Senior Chloe DiPetrillo led the way for the Bears with a six-over 78 to tie for 18th individually. WashU's freshmen duo of Julia Dai and Lydia Tsai posted eight-over 80s to tie for 33rd place. Senior Sabrina Ho was the Bears final score to count with a 10-over 82. Junior Emily Carnes was the final member of the lineup and finished with an 87.

Freshman Rachel Rhee tied for 22nd place playing as an individual. She finished with 79 strokes. The Bears combined to total six birdies which was tied for fourth best in the tournament. DiPetrillo and Tsai led the way with two birdies apiece as Ho and Dai also contributed one apiece. Rhee finished with a team high 12 pars.

The Bears will await the announcement of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championship field, set to be released on Monday, May 6.
