WashU in Fifth at Jekyll Island Invite after Day 2

Jekyll Island, Ga., March 17, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team is in fifth place following the day two action at the Jekyll Island Golf Club on Saturday.

WashU totaled 313 strokes during the second round on Saturday and have totaled a score of 623 (310, 313). Ahead of the Bears are No. 4-ranked Claremont Mudd Scripps 603 (302, 301), No. 17-ranked Whitman 614 (308, 306), No. 1-ranked New York 616 (310, 306) and No. 12-ranked Methodist 617 (309, 308). The Bears are fifth out of a total of 23 opponents including 17 ranked in Golfstat's top-35 programs.

Sophomore Emily Carnes led the Bears on Saturday with three of WashU's seven birdies while finishing the second round with a 77. Meanwhile freshman Gigi Garcia totaled two birdies with WashU's top score of the day 75.

Sophomore Samantha Haubenstock fired a five-over par 77. Rounding out the WashU lineup were senior Erin Drolet (84) and sophomore Angelica Harris (89).
