Sandestin, Fla., Oct. 15, 2017 – The No. 14-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team fired an opening round 304 to lead the 16 team field during day one of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at Baytowne Golf Club.
WashU holds a seven stroke lead over second place Huntingdon College (311). Rounding out the top five were Methodist University (318), Oglethorpe University (318) and Washington & Lee (323). The Bears are ahead of seven teams ranked within the top-25 of Golfstat relative rankings.
Junior Chloe DiPetrillo and sophomore Samantha Haubenstock are tied atop the leaderboard after both firing two-over par 74s. Haubenstock finished with three birdies, which was the second highest total of day one.
Collectively, WashU totaled seven birdies including two apiece by DiPetrillo and senior Erin Drolet. Drolet is tied for fifth finishing the day with a four-over 76. Freshman Gigi Garcia and sophomore Emily Carnes closed out the Bears lineup with 80s.
