St. Louis, Mo., May 1, 2017 – Freshman Samantha Haubenstock of the Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team was selected to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Monday.
The NCAA Women's Golf Committee announced the 22-team field and the additional six golfers selected individually. Eighteen teams earned automatic qualifications leaving four available at-large bids. In addition, six individual golfers from other institutions were selected for championships.
Haubenstock ranks eighth nationally with an average score of 76.10 and has won three tournaments thus far during her freshman campaign. She was also named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Freshman of the Year as well as a First Team all-UAA member. Haubenstock will join Carolyn Ordian (Redlands), Sydney Weaver (Berry), Christina Herbert (Bridgewater), Liza Freed (Washington and Lee) and Johnna Beehner (Methodist) as the individual representatives.
The team and individual championships will be conducted concurrently from May 9-12 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Harris County-Houston Sports Authority will serve as hosts.
