Germantown, Tenn. March 22, 2015 – The No. 3-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team shot a 315 Sunday to sit in second place after day one of the Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational held at Windyke West Golf Club in Germantown, Tenn.
No. 7-ranked Wittenberg University holds a one-stroke lead after firing a 314 in the opening round. WashU (314), No. 10 Rhodes College (319), No. 18 Huntingdon College (332) and No. 11 Carthage College (333) round out the top five in the seven-team field.
Senior Olivia Lugar carded an opening round 2-over 74 (35-39) and sits in a tie with Jane Hopkinson-Wood of Wittenberg for the individual lead. Lugar led the field in pars with 13, and was second in par 5 scoring at 4.75 (-1). Junior Connie Zhou is tied for fourth after an opening round 6-over 78 (39-39), while freshman Erin Drolet is also in the top-10 in eighth place after an 80 (40-40).
Junior Erin Lawrence (40-43, 83/17th place) and sophomore Jessica Wibawa (45-42/25th place) rounded out the starting lineup for WashU, while sophomore Samantha Han competed as an individual and is tied for ninth after an 81 (41-40).
The final round of the Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational will conclude with 18 holes Monday beginning at 9 a.m.
BEAR NOTEBOOK: WashU entered the round with a 311.54 average … Han led the field in par 3 scoring (3.00, even), while Drolet was first in par 5 scoring (4.50, -2) … The Bears were second as a team in par 5 scoring (5.40) and third in par 3 scoring (3.65) and par 4 scoring (4.42) … WashU led the tournament field with 45 pars.
