Women’s Golf Third at Golfweek Division III Fall Preview

Destin, Fla., October 13, 2013 – The No. 5 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team sits in third place after an opening round 314 Sunday at the Golfweek Division III Fall Preview at Baytowne Golf Club in Destin, Fla.

Junior Olivia Lugar (39-36, 75) and sophomore Connie Zhou (37-39, 76) led the Bears in the opening round, and are in the top-10 in the individual standings after the opening round. Loretta Giovannettone (Methodist), Nucharin Kantapasara (Methodist) and Katie Klosterman (Illinois Wesleyan) are tied for the lead after an even-par 72.

No. 2 ranked Methodist College leads the 17-team field after an opening round 296, and has a 13-stroke lead over No. 22 Trinity University (Texas) who fired a 309. Washington U. is five shots out of second with a 314, while No. 1 ranked and defending national champion University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (317) and No. 23 Rhodes College (319) round out the top five.
