St. Louis, Mo., March 13, 2017 – Sophomore forward Madeline Homoly was named to the 2017 D3hoops.com All-Central Region First-Team after leading the Washington University in St. Louis women's basketball team in scoring during her first season with the Bears, as announced by the website Monday.
Homoly, a University Athletic Association (UAA) First-Team selection, played in all 29 games averaging 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game to lead WashU in both categories. She shot 51.8 percent from the field (170-328) and 69.6 percent from the free throw line (78-112). Homoly also led the Bears with 37 steals in addition to contributing 52 assists.
The Kansas City, Mo.-native had a 14-game stretch of scoring in double figures which coincided with a 14-game win streak for the Bears. During the streak, she finished with a career-high 33 points at Case Western Reserve University on Jan. 29 during a 92-79 WashU victory.
She finished within the top-10 of the UAA in several categories including field-goal percentage (sixth), points (eighth) and rebounds (eighth). Homoly was honored as the UAA Athlete of the Week three times on Feb. 6, Feb. 13 and March 6.
WashU finished the 2016-17 season with a 26-3 overall record and won its 23rd UAA Championship in school history. The Bears also advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in school history.
