St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 16, 2013 – Washington University in St. Louis junior guard Alyssa Johanson was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week, as announced Monday by the Association. Johanson earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Johanson averaged 15 points and shot 52.2 percent from the field off the bench in a pair of wins for the second-ranked Bears. She scored a season-high 18 points, one shy of her career-high, and equaled career-highs with six rebounds and three steals in an 83-53 win at Fontbonne University Dec. 10. Johanson followed that with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, and a season-high three assists in a 67-44 win over Loras College Dec. 14.
She finished the week 12-of-23 (.522) from the field, including 3-of-4 (.750) from three-point range, and was 3-of-3 at the free-throw line. Johanson is averaging 9.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game off the bench, and is 11th in the UAA in field goal percentage (.507).
