Kyle Laker joined the Washington University in St. Louis track & field coaching staff as an assistant in 2015-16.

The Bears experienced a first in school history during the 2016 NCAA Indoor National Championships when both the women's and men's programs finished within the top-10, placing third and ninth respectively. The WashU men and women captured University Athletic Association (UAA) titles in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, while the women also finished third in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Laker comes to WashU after spending four years as the middle school basketball coach and high school track & field assistant at Goshen Community Schools. While there, he coached two state qualifiers in the high jump - one male and one female.

After attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College for two years, Laker finished his collegiate career at Goshen College in Goshen, Ind. A two-time NAIA national qualifier, he set the Goshen College high jump record at 2.05 meters. Laker also set the Wayland High School (Wayland, Mich.) high jump record (6-9) and finished as the state runner-up in 2005. He also played basketball for four years each in high school and college.

A native of Wayland, Mich., Laker earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from Goshen College in 2011.
