Men’s 4x400m Relay Races to Division III Record Book

Naperville, Ill., May 15, 2019 – Senior Jason Singer, sophomore Andrew Whitaker, senior Eddie Wintergalen and sophomore John Harry Wagner have set the Washington University in St. Louis outdoor track & field record in the 4x400m relay multiple times this season but the group erased nearly three seconds off their previous best time to reset the record and become the 15th fastest performers in Division III history.

The group ran to a first place finish at the Gregory Final Qualifier hosted by North Central College. The quartet finished with a winning time of 3:09.93, which broke the school record of 3:12.37 set at the Billy Hayes Invite on May 3.

Senior Tim Goblirsch pole vaulted to new heights during Wednesday's competition as well. He posted a career-best height of 4.63m and tied for third place overall.

Junior Collis McKenzie placed eighth in the high jump (1.91m) while sophomore Joe Stover placed 12th out of more than 70 runners in the 5,000m run (14:56.04).


Senior Heidi Nassos posted a personal-best for the second straight week in pole vault. She vaulted to a first place finish and the WashU's second best mark of 3.98m which ranks second in DIII. Sophomore Julia Dannenbaum placed third in pole vault with a top-25 mark in DIII, 3.78m.

Junior Paige Lawler also won an event in just her third meet of the season. She posted a winning season-best time of 17:41.50 in the 5,000m run.

Freshman Alicia Gupte, sophomore Elle Hansen, freshman Ava Forman and sophomore Rachel Novick placed third overall in the 4x400m relay. The group crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 3:51.94 which ranks 18th in DIII.
