WashU Finishes Night One of Competition at Billiken Invitational

St. Louis, Mo., April 5, 2019 – The Washington University in St. Louis outdoor track & field program competed at the Saint Louis University Billiken Invitational Friday evening.

The No. 3-ranked WashU women finished day one of the invitational with 49 points, while the No. 8-ranked Bears' men totaled 29 points. Both the men and women are in second place but with the top Division III point totals.

Sophomore Julia Dannenbaum won the women's pole vault by clearing a personal-best outdoor height of 3.90m which leads Division III this season. Senior Rachel Kershner placed third in the javelin throw (32.88m). Sophomore Eka Jose earned a fourth place finish with a season and team-best jump of 5.31m. Sophomore Randal Walker placed fifth in the hammer throw with a season-best distance of 36.07m.

Senior Daniel Tyszka posted the third best hammer throw, 42.49m. Freshman Matt Moore placed fourth in the long jump (6.40m) while senior Al-Amin Yusuf placed fifth in the javelin throw (39.60m) in his first competition as a Bear.
