WashU T&F Has 16 Bears Earn All-Region Honors

St. Louis, Mo., March 5, 2019 –
The Washington University in St. Louis track & field program had a total of 16 student-athletes earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest All-Region honors, as announced by the association.

The No. 1-ranked WashU women had 11 earn All-Region recognition, and the No. 9-ranked WashU men had five All-Region honorees. In order to receive All-Region accolades, an individual must post a time or mark that ranks in the region's top five performances per event, or the individual must be a part of a relay team that posts a top-three time.

The Bears Midwest All-Region honorees are:


Nick Matteucci – Mile (Fifth, 4:08.41)

Jason Singer – 4x400m Relay (First, 3:13.19)

John Harry Wagner – 4x400m Relay (First, 3:13.19), 400m (Fifth, 48.40)

Andrew Whitaker – 4x400m Relay (First, 3:13.19)

Eddie Wintergalen – 4x400m Relay (First, 3:13.19), 400m (Fourth, 48.30)


Grace Bristow – Distance Medley Relay (Second, 11:49.42)

Julia Dannenbaum – Pole Vault (Second, 3.91m)

Ava Forman – Distance Medley Relay (Second, 11:49.42)

Eka Jose – Long Jump (Second, 5.81m), Triple Jump (First, 12.29m)

Heidi Nassos – Pole Vault (First, 3.93m), Triple Jump (Fifth, 11.86m)

Jay Pittman – 60m Hurdles (Second, 8.80)

Molly Shepherd – Distance Medley Relay (Second, 11:49.42)

Emily Stegmeier – Distance Medley Relay (Second, 11:49.42)

Caira Watson Haynes – 60m Hurdles (Third, 8.85)

Sophie Watterson – 3,000m (Fifth, 9:56.07), 5,000m (Fourth, 17:16.73)

Aly Wayne – 3,000m (Second, 9:50.34), 5,000m (Second, 16:51.23)

The NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled Friday-Saturday, March 8-9 in Boston. WashU is sending a school record number of Bears to the championship weekend as 25 Bears will make the journey to compete in the mile, 5,000m, 60m hurdles, 4x400m relay, distance medley relay, pole vault, long jump and triple jump.
